When looking for the most suitable, or even the best, pump for hazardous, harmful, toxic, or irritating liquids, a magnetically driven pump is an excellent choice. It is seal-less, meaning it helps avoid issues and leaks typically caused by shaft seals.
We offer the widest range of magnetically driven pumps from a single manufacturer. Whether you need a centrifugal pump or a positive displacement pump with magnetic drive, turn to us and we will provide the right solution for your needs.

Especially when pumping and handling hazardous substances, it is crucial that the process is as leak-tight as possible. A magnetically driven pump is an excellent solution for such applications, as its structure is fully sealed.
Magnetic drive means that the pump does not include a shaft seal, which is one of the most failure-prone and wear-prone components in rotating equipment. As a result, shaft seals are a common cause of leaks in conventional pumps.
A magnetically driven pump significantly reduces maintenance and service costs, lowering overall lifecycle costs. It is suitable for pumping most clean liquids. Liquids containing particles can also be handled to a limited extent, in which case specially designed pump models are used.
Magnetically driven pumps are typically used in applications where the pumped medium is hazardous, harmful, or irritating to both the environment and operators.
In a magnetically driven pump, the rear part of the pump casing is separated from the environment by a so-called containment shell. This means the pump does not include any type of shaft seal.
In a magnetic drive pump, the electric motor rotates the outer magnet of the magnetic coupling at the same speed as the motor. Inside the pump, a so-called inner magnet is attached to the shaft that drives the impeller. This inner magnet rotates at the same speed as the outer magnet. Together, this combination of inner and outer magnets forms the magnetic coupling.
The previously mentioned containment shell is installed between the inner and outer magnets and acts as a barrier for the pumped liquid. Although the containment shell causes some magnetic losses, it does not affect the rotational speed of the pump. Instead, its impact is mainly reflected in the motor sizing.
Modern manufacturers are able to design magnetically driven pumps to be highly energy-efficient through technical solutions. In many cases, both a sealed (shaft seal) version and a magnetic drive version of the same pump can operate using motors of similar power.
The video below demonstrates how a magnetically driven centrifugal pump is constructed and how it operates.
