Water-powered dosing unit
Mixtron MX is a water-powered dosing pump. The MX series pumps are so-called hydraulic dosing pumps that mix water and chemicals or additives in a precise ratio. They are proportional dosing devices that operate without electricity, using only water pressure and flow. The devices are designed to ensure that the amount of dosing agent always remains proportional to the amount of water flowing through the system, regardless of pressure or flow variations.
The MX series includes several models that differ, for example, in flow rate and dosing percentage. For example:
MX.075 – MX.900 series: Handle different flow rates and dosing percentages (e.g. 0.03% – 10%).
MX.1100 and MX.1300: Newer, higher-capacity models designed especially for agriculture and water treatment applications with larger flow rates (up to 13,000 l/h).
LFL (Low Flow Line) series: Designed for low flow rates, making them suitable for applications such as animal medication.
Some models also include features such as an integrated control valve (by-pass) for safe use with acids, or an ON/OFF switch that allows dosing to be stopped without interrupting the water flow. Each model (except models 11,000 l/h and above) always includes a 1.5 m suction hose with a foot valve and filter. In addition, every product includes a durable wall bracket.
When searching for these devices, you may encounter several terms such as water-powered dosing pump, hydraulic dosing unit, or proportional doser. All of these terms describe the same clever technology that enables accurate dosing of liquids without electricity.
A hydraulic dosing unit is completely independent of the electrical grid, making it an excellent choice for locations where electricity is not available or where electrical safety is especially important. The system works simply using water pressure: when water flows through the device, it creates a mechanical motion that draws the chemical or additive directly from the supply line and mixes it into the flowing water. Because the dosing is proportional, the amount of additive automatically adjusts to the amount of water flowing through the system, regardless of pressure or flow fluctuations. This ensures an extremely precise and consistent result.
The versatile possibilities of this technology make it invaluable in many fields. In agriculture, water dosing systems are essential for fertilizer dosing or distributing plant protection products through irrigation systems. This allows plants to receive exactly the right amount of nutrients consistently. In livestock farming, they enable accurate dosing of medicines, vitamins, or probiotics into animals’ drinking water, which helps support animal health and wellbeing.
Chemical dosing is also common in industrial environments. For example, dosing cutting fluids used in metalworking or industrial cleaning chemicals is critical for both quality and workplace safety. A hydraulic dosing unit ensures that the mixing ratio remains optimal, reducing waste and improving process efficiency.
In summary, regardless of whether the device is called a water-powered dosing pump or a proportional dosing unit, its core purpose remains the same: to provide a reliable, accurate, and energy-efficient way to mix water and chemicals for various applications. The Mixtron MX series represents this technology well, offering users a durable and high-quality solution for dosing needs. It is a smart investment when dosing accuracy and consistency are especially important.
