Ball valves are among the most popular valve types for a wide range of pipeline systems in industry, business operations and municipal engineering. Their popularity is based on their versatility, ease of use and reliability. A ball valve has a simple but highly efficient structure: the hollow, perforated ball inside the valve acts as the flow control mechanism.
Ball valves are available in different designs, including 1-piece, 2-piece and 3-piece structures. They can also be either full bore or reduced bore. The valves can be connected to the pipeline with threaded connections, flanges or weld ends. A ball valve can also be connected to automation, allowing it to be controlled electrically.
BPI-Chempump has extensive experience with different valves and pipeline solutions. Whether you are looking for a ball valve, rubber gate valve, foot valve or any other valve model, we can help. Contact us and ask for more, and we will find the right valve for your needs.

When the handle of a ball valve is turned, the ball rotates 90 degrees around its axis. If the hole in the ball is aligned with the pipe, the valve is open and liquid or gas flows freely. When the handle is turned in the other direction, the ball turns so that it closes the flow tightly. This allows a ball valve to open or shut off the flow quickly and efficiently.
Simplicity and high-quality materials are the reasons why ball valves can last for years without significant maintenance. Ball valves made from high-quality materials are well suited for demanding conditions, and they can withstand both high and low temperatures, depending on the material used.
It is important to consider, however, that if the valve is used with liquids in locations where there is a risk of freezing, the valve must be protected or drained to prevent the liquid from freezing inside it. Freezing liquid can damage the valve.
Ball valves are widely used in many different applications, from industry to household piping. They perform very well in various environments where the flow of liquids or gases needs to be controlled. The popularity of ball valves is based on their ability to withstand pressure, their good sealing properties, and their fast opening and closing function.
Industrial process equipment:
Ball valves are common in chemical and petrochemical equipment, where they are used to control high-pressure liquids and gases. They can also perform well in corrosive environments.
Heating, ventilation and air conditioning applications, HVAC:
In heating and cooling distribution systems, ball valves are used to regulate water flow in applications such as heat exchangers, radiator circuits and air conditioning units.
Water and wastewater management:
In water treatment systems, ball valves guide and regulate the movement of water. They are also important components in wastewater treatment plants, where they control dirty water and liquid flows within the treatment process.
Gas and oil industry applications:
Ball valves are widely used in natural gas pipelines, as well as in oil drilling and processing facilities where strong and reliable valves are needed for pressure control and leak prevention.
Food industry and pharmaceutical industry:
In sterile or cleanliness-sensitive applications, such as the food and pharmaceutical industries, ball valves help ensure that processes remain clean and protected from contamination.
Marine and shipbuilding:
In ship water systems and fuel lines, ball valves play an important role in safety and efficient operation as pressure-resistant and corrosion-resistant solutions.
Households:
In household piping, ball valves can be found for example in main water line shut-offs, heating systems and irrigation systems, where they are used to stop or regulate water flow.
Small equipment and tools:
Ball valves are also used in various smaller tools and devices, such as pneumatic tools, because they can regulate and control air flows quickly and efficiently.
Ball valves are simple, but their applications are very versatile. That is why a ball valve is an important part of many different systems. Their simple structure, reliability and long service life are the reasons why ball valves are chosen for so many applications.
