A Pump for Demanding Conditions

A progressive cavity pump can handle pressure, high viscosities, large solids, alkalis, acids and abrasive media. These pumps are used in applications ranging from industry to bakeries and from agriculture to wastewater treatment plants. There are numerous possible applications.

This pump is a positive displacement pump where a corkscrew-shaped rotor rotates inside a double-threaded stator. The rotor threads are eccentric in relation to the shaft, and as the rotor turns, it moves the liquid from one cavity in the stator to the next. This operating principle ensures the previously mentioned pulsation-free, low-speed flow.

Progressive cavity pumps are available as single-stage or multi-stage models, in horizontal or vertical installation. They are highly suitable for applications where the pumped liquid is sensitive, such as various food products or easily foaming media. The pump is also commonly used in wastewater treatment processes, where it can be used for sludge pumping or dosing different chemicals. For transferring heavy and viscous chemicals, this pump is the right choice.

Progressive cavity pumps are available in many different models, depending on the application and its requirements. A lighter and more compact model is generally suitable for dosing use, while sludges and media containing solids may require a more robust and heavier model with special features.

The material options are extensive, and they are always selected according to the application and the pumped medium. Shaft seals are selected using the same principle as the pump materials, and different single and double mechanical shaft seal options are available. Some progressive cavity pumps are also available as models suitable for ATEX areas.
