Plastic Pumps

When designing and selecting a suitable pump for process systems containing aggressive, abrasive or even particle-containing liquids, a plastic pump is an excellent option. In some applications, a plastic pump may be the best or even the only sensible choice.

The Dutch ARBO plastic pumps we offer represent modern expertise, and our range includes pumps that can achieve very high efficiencies. Our selection also includes plastic-lined pumps manufactured by M PUMPS.

Why choose a plastic pump?

In many applications, a plastic pump is at least as good as higher-grade pumps made from acid-resistant stainless steel. In terms of cost-effectiveness, a plastic pump is often superior compared to similar acid-resistant products, such as pumps made from Duplex stainless steel. The image below shows a pump designed according to the ISO 2858 standard. Did you know that it can be installed directly in place of a metal pump built to the same standard?

Why and where should a plastic pump be used?

A plastic pump is suitable for similar applications as traditional shaft-sealed pumps made from acid-resistant stainless steel. However, the properties of plastics often allow them to last longer than acid-resistant stainless steel pumps. This is due to the better chemical resistance of plastics, and in certain processes, their improved wear resistance also plays a very important role.

The plastic pumps we offer are machined from solid plastic blanks, which gives the pumps significant material thickness. If you want a pump that is quiet, sturdy and long-lasting in use, material thickness plays an important role. These pumps are so quiet that they are used in various aquariums around the world, as the stress caused to aquatic animals by pump noise is kept as low as possible with plastic pumps.

Our plastic pumps are suitable for many different applications, such as handling hot chemicals. This is made possible by the wide range of plastic materials available, allowing the material selection to be optimized for the application. Our plastic pump range is also available for ATEX-classified areas. Ask our team for more detailed suitability information.
