A foot valve allows flow in only one direction. The arrow on the valve indicates the flow direction. Its operating principle is to prevent backflow in the pump suction pipe when the pump is switched off. This helps ensure that the pump remains filled with liquid and is therefore able to pump at start-up. The foot valve includes a strainer that prevents larger particles from entering the pump. The foot valve is suitable for applications where the temperature of the pumped liquid is 0 °C to +90 °C.
